Amsterdam’s identity is inseparable from water. Built on canals and shaped by them, the city’s reflections are more than visual. They blur the line between reality and illusion by, permanence and change.
I’ve been living in Amsterdam for nearly seven years now, and in that time, I’ve seen the city evolve, with its urban landscape being reshaped by new developments. On my daily route home along canals, I’ve watched new buildings rise and reshape the skyline—and their reflections. These mirrored images in the water, so familiar yet constantly evolving, became my inspiration.

Circular Waves
Circular waves (size 130X130) – Started as a plan for a lightpainting photo that I never got around to taking. Instead, it turned into a funky Geometric Abstract Lightrug. You can change the vibe of the space from chill to party mode in seconds.

The Shape of Time
Handmade with tufting and punch needle techniques using recycled yarn, featuring approximately 1,000 fiber optics wires hand-stitched into a rug and app-controlled lights.
The artwork is inspired by the natural beauty of sand shaped by the wind. On the beach, I am captivated by the wind’s movement of sand, which symbolizes how our choices and experiences shape us over time. In this piece, sand represents our lives, and the wind represents the influences that direct our paths, emphasizing the constant evolution of our personal stories.
